I am an award-winning travel writer, journalist, editor, broadcaster and photographer, based in south London.
Over the last decade, I’ve co-authored over 30 Rough Guides to destinations across Latin America, Asia, Europe, north Africa and Australasia, co-wrote the Buenos Aires Essential Guide app, and contributed to several DK Eyewitness Guides.
I’m a travel expert on the BBC1 show How to Holiday Better, appear regularly on talkRADIO and The Rough Guide to Everywhere podcast, and give talks at places like the Royal Geographical Society and events like Destinations London. I’m also an editorial consultant for Amnesty International UK, have worked for a range of other charities/NGOs, and carried out research projects for Google.
I’m a member of the British Guild of Travel Writers, a fellow of the Royal Geographical Society, and a trustee and director of the Latin America Bureau.

My feature on Cordoba won the 'most outstanding article' category at the 2016 Argentina Tourism Awards, my account of a journey on the Ghan was named as one of Rough Guides' favourite articles of 2016, and this piece on Ecuador was runner-up in the blog feature category of the 2018 Latin American Travel Association Media Awards.
I have worked as a consultant for Amnesty International UKsince 2007, writing and editing everything from annual reports to newspaper adverts, magazines to parliamentary briefings, campaign materials to podcast scripts.
I’m a trustee and director of the Latin America Bureau, a London-based charity and publisher providing news, analysis and information on Latin America, its people, politics and society. I help to guide the strategic director of the organisation, with a particular focus on communications, publishing, marketing, and social and digital media. He also co-wrote the football chapter of the LAB book Brazil Inside Out.
